| Instructor, Research Scientist - Carcinogenesis Laboratory, Michigan State University, East Lansing, Michigan 1976-1979. Determined that DNA damaged by ultraviolet radiation or by chemical carcinogens is repaired by the same pathway in human cells which indicates that damage caused by different agents is additive. Collaborated in the determination that repair synthesis of DNA removes specific lesions that would otherwise lead to cell death or mutation. |

Prepared fluorescent derivatives of DNA and RNA in order to quantitate specific sequences of DNA in the genome of cells corresponding to the nucleic acid sequence of infecting carcinogenic viruses. Collaborated in the development of a microfluorometer to visualize the product of such hybridizations Developed improved techniques to quantitate DNA by microfluorometry. |
